3 Projects for 2025

This year I have decided to create three separate projects of different mediums that will ultimately culminate in a personal experiment of transmutation.

This year I have decided to create three separate projects of different mediums that will ultimately culminate in a personal experiment of transmutation. The act of stating my intention for creation before I actually begin feels intensely uncomfortable. I suppose that is partially what I want- a container for uncomfortable growth. Luckily, each project covers a theme I am immensely interested in. Gentle self-parenting for the finicky artist.

The first project I will lovingly refer to as Trees and NDE’s. For the folks out there without this niche interest, an NDE stands for Near Death Experience. This is a topic of immense interest to me after experiencing my own NDE coming up on 4 years ago. I will be creating 6 paintings that attempt to articulate small aspects of my own experience, along with 5 other people and their own experience of an NDE.

To balance this topic, I will also be painting a tree to pair with each experience. 6 trees for 6 NDE paintings in total. Each tree is of personal significance to myself and the story. Trees held a very important role in my own coming back to earth 4 years ago, and frankly, seem like a nice balance to such a heady topic. That makes for 12 paintings in total.

The second project I will call Watercolor Clusters on Emotional Meditation. Each early morning I intend to intuitively paint while holding a specific emotion I desire to cultivate in my mind and body. This act will replace previous methods of early morning meditation and contemplation. These paintings will be small watercolors on paper. I feel this medium works well for painting quickly and intuitively. This is an experiment of the nervous system: a de-program/re-programs of sorts. I want to see what happens to the ‘personality’ of oneself after each month of intentional focus to one particular emotion (and everything we relate to through the lens of this emotion).

The second part of the experiment comes from a genuine curiosity. Will these watercolors radiate the emotion to the viewer? Will these paintings become anymore potent because they are saturated with a meditation repeated for 60+ hours per set? Will others absorb or feel any of these emotions upon viewing the clusters? Each month of the years will represent a different emotion.

The third project has no title. I will simply call them Talisman Dolls. I will create 12 different soft-sculptures, one for each month of the year. They are embodied creatures of each emotion. They are physical containers for each of the 12 different emotions cultivated every month. I am of the opinion that the Universe loves it when we make something physical. It is a final ‘cap’ on the natural trail of how latent energy manifests (from emotion to thought to action to the physical world). Putting this accumulation of emotional energy into an actual bundled ‘being’ seems an appropriate final step for each month’s intention. This is nothing more than using a power object or sympathetic magic. This is not a new idea, but it is fun!

I will update each month’s 3 projects to my website and social media pages. These are the platforms currently available to me, and thus what I will use. Your interaction with these projects are of great importance to me. This is in stark contrast to how I usually conduct myself (I tend to be quite private about my works and flourish in solitude). Again, this is an experiment and I feel it important to share my findings along the way, both the successes and failures.

Here’s to experiment and play!

Happy Days.
